Seven Secondary Five students had a breakfast gathering with Professor Samuel Sun Sai Ming from The Faculty of Engineering, CUHK under the scheme “Our First Encounter with CUHK Professors” on 14th December, 2017. They were accompanied by Mr. Er Sun Sing. Professor Sun shared the development and characteristics of S.H. Ho College, how to use the concept of “home” to unite students, and what activities can increase students’ experience and self-reflection. Moreover, he also shared his experience of growing up, including the importance of an increase in food production. Students were deeply inspired by Professor Sun’s diet and determination to observe world issues and uphold ideals. Students who attended the gathering included Chan Ka Him, Cheng Hiu Ying, Chung Hoi Tung, Lam Wai Chun, Leung Choi Ti, Leung Chun Kit and Ng Cho Man. We were honoured to have our alumni Lam Man Hei and Wong Lei Ting who are now the students at S.H. College join the gathering that morning as well.
Eight Secondary Five students had a breakfast gathering with Professor Raymond Kim Wai Sum, from The Faculty of Education, CUHK under the scheme “Our First Encounter with CUHK Professors” on 19th December, 2017. They were accompanied by Mr Hui Chi Wai. Students Kwok Kwan Ho, Lau Ka Hong, Yeung Sze Ki, Chan Hei Man, Chau Tin Ngo, Lai Ka Tung, Ng Ka Nam and Yau Chi Kiu talked about the history of CUHK, how to enroll in the Faculty of Education, different characteristics of sports including swimming and wushu, muscle training and body recovery management.
Wise Five students had a breakfast gathering with The Head of New Asia College of CUHK, Professor Henry N. C. Wong, under the scheme “Our First Encounter with CUHK Professors” on 19th December, 2017. They were accompanied by Ms. Yip Sze Man. Students Au Ching Lam, Lau Ka Yu, Luk Chim Lam, Shih Jackson, Choi Pui Yan and Ian Woo were very inspired by their conversation with Professor Wong about the requirements of studying at CUHK. Students were encouraged to participate in more exchanges with Mainland China in order to broaden their horizons.
To boost the confidence in public speaking, the annual Secondary Five Inter-class Public Speaking Competition was held on 15th December. It was a great success! The champion was Tsang Tsz Ying (Honest 5), the first runner-up and second runner-up were Wong Ting Ho (Loyal 5) and Yeung Sze Ki (Wise 5) respectively. The Best Performance Class winner was Loyal 5. Congratulations to all the winners and participants.
