Environmental Device Design Competition

Our school team has been awarded the team Champion 2018 Secondary School Category. The school team members were team leader Chan Yiu Wan (4A), members Au Yeung Kwok Tung (2A), Kwok Shing Yan (2A), Choy Tsz Wai (2A), and Xie Yim Sing (2C). Congratulations to the team.

Visit the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works and Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme (HVUSSS) Guided Tour

To enhance the awareness of conservation in Hong Kong, our Secondary One to Three students visited the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works and Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme (HVUSSS) Guided Tour on 3rd Dec, 2018. This guided tour started with an introduction of the project details of HVUSSS and the associated innovative designs such as the smart movable weirs and water harvesting system. It was followed by a site visit to the fan room, 60,000 m³ storage tank and green lawn on top of the pump house.

STEM: Interview with Professor Lo Yuk Ming (Deputy Dean of Faculty of Medicine, CUHK)

On 26th November 2018, our Secondary Five Biology students, Dr. Lam Tat Ho (Vice Principal) and Mr. Ho Fung visited Professor Lo Yuk Ming, Dennis (Deputy Dean of Faculty of Medicine, CUHK) and visited the laboratories at Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences (LiHS). Prof. Lo is the molecular biologist and his major research areas are the plasma DNA and RNA in humans. During the interview, Prof. Lo shared his research life and taught students how to set research questions.

Historical and Ecological Exploration Tour in Xiamen and Jinmen

To explore wildlife in the Mainland, teachers and students of our school participated in the Historical and Ecological Exploration Tour in Xiamen and Jinmen tour and visited the Xiamen Botanical Garden for five days from 26th Oct, 2018 to 30th Oct, 2018. We were touched by the process of how a bird protection area was established in the developing city area of Xiamen by a local expert. The experience was valuable, since our students could learn about a great number of unusual plants. Besides Xiamen, they also visited some historical war sites in Jinmen in Taiwan. Students understood more about the civil war which happened 70 years ago, and even had some horrible “experiences” of the war. They invited the Ecological Instructor, Ms. Tang Mei Ling, who taught us about bird-watching and told us some characteristics of the birds. At the same time, she told them some interesting stories about some birds. The rural atmosphere and life-style in Jinmen let students feel the relaxing environment.
